Composer & Pianist Nicole Brady studied piano performance under Gerard Willems & composition with William Motzing at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music from the age of fourteen, & graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Piano Performance) & the Winifred Elizabeth Nerious Award for the top graduating recital. A Masters in Music graduate of New York University & the Elmer Bernstein Award for excellence in film scoring, Nicole studied piano performance under Daniel Gortler, composition with Ira Newborn, & also served as an adjunct professor in piano. Further studies at the Sommerakademie Mozarteum in Salzburg in Lieder, and composition studies in Belgium with Giya Kancheli.

Commissions have included the Omega Ensemble in performances at the Sydney Opera House; amplified piano trio + electronics work ‘sognare: vignette i-iv’ (2019), ‘Postlude’ an amplified string quintet + electronics + bass clarinet theatre work featuring actor Kendall Goddard to commemorate the anniversary of Bernard Herrmann (2016), and piano trio Valse in L’istesso Tempo (2011) which was subsequently recorded at the Eugene Gössens Hall ABC. She has also been commissioned by the Austrian Contemporary Music Society for the orchestral work ‘Akhira’ which was recorded live on Czesky Radio, the Savassi Jazz Festival & the Sao Paolo Symphony for a four movement orchestral piano concerto arrangement of Kenny Werner’s solo rhodes work ‘Spaces’ televised live over four performances, and she has had her work performed by many ensembles including the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra for her piano orchestra work ‘Sinfonia’.

Original scores for film include ‘CyanEyed’ & ‘The Rose of Turaida’ directed by Latvian Australian director Ryan Grobins, a series of martial arts films by ‘Scenic Fights’ shown at HBO’s urban action film festival including ‘My Fight Fattaah’ & ‘My Fight Tresa’, Warner Bros fashion feature documentary ‘The Tents’ directed by James Belzer, and many independent award-winning Australian films shown in competition at A list festivals such as ‘The Grace of Others’ starring Penelope Mitchell & artist Kimbra. Nicole also works as soundtrack producer + arranger in AAA Video Games & Anime having worked on major franchises such as Final Fantasy (Square Enix), Tekken (Bandai Namco), & Valkyria Chronicles (Sega/Sony Pictures).

Recordings of her arrangements have been published on Columbia Pictures Records, Sony, BBF Records, Basiscape Records, Supersweep, 5pb, Geneon.
